The Ham ‘n’ Egger

A show taking a quick peak at Don Cherry’s extensive career in Jazz and World music. Cherry began playing free jazz on his cornet with Clifford Brown and Max Roach and later as a part of Ornette Coleman’s group, then began releasing his own records like Mu First Part and Brown Rice. He was particularly inspired by experimental music and traditional music from Brazil, India, and parts of Africa.  I got pretty surface level with Don Cherry’s discography, but there’s so much to get into. I really enjoyed his work in Codona with Nana Vasconcelos and Collin Walcott.

Thanks for listening!

The Ham ‘n’ Egger is on Saturdays from 10am to 11am.
